WADI RUM
Drink tea with Bedouin tribes, go camel trekking, marvel at the dramatic landscapes and fall asleep under a miraculously clear sky.
Wadi Rum is not somewhere that you will forget in a hurry. Known as the Valley of the Moon, it is easy to see why with the many colours of the sand and rocks and the dramatic landscape of shaped by the biting desert wind. This part of Jordan was the location for the film Lawrence of Arabia and also his real life base during the Arab Revolt. This history of this beautiful place goes back much further than the 1st World War and visitors can spot early Nabatean carvings in the rock.
The desert here is still inhabited by Bedouin tribes and one of the best experiences is to explore with them going camel trekking or travelling by 4WD through the spectacular landscape. At the end of the day, relax in a luxurious camp set up just for you or retreat to your cosy dome and fall asleep watching the stars. The sky in Wadi Rum is exceptional, light pollution is non existent and it is often possible to spot the Milky Way from the desert. This really is a special place and a definite highlight of any holiday to Jordan.
