MUMBAI

Immerse yourself in the City of Dreams and soak up the diversity of this huge and colourful city.

Mumbai is the main entry point to India and this enormous, sprawling city is full of chaos, colour and contrasting worlds. It is home to some of the biggest slums in Asia and also some of the most expensive addresses. There are vibrant street markets, winding alleys, British style architecture with echoes of colonial times and glitzy shopping malls. Mumbai has something for everyone and its passion for life and its people is evident as soon as you arrive.

Take in iconic monuments such as the Gateway of India or Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus, the famous train station now a UNESCO world heritage site. Visit Dhobi Ghat, Mumbai’s 140 year old open-air laundry and marvel at the dhobis’ expertise as thousands of items are washed daily. One of our favourite things to do is walk along the Marine Drive and admire the city’s skyline or visit one of the city’s maidans and watch the locals playing cricket.  For an escape from Mumbai’s frenetic pace, head to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a verdant oasis on the fringes of the city and home to various species of plants, birds and butterflies.
