Here you will find Bethany-Beyond-The-Jordan, the baptism site of Jesus Christ and whatever your beliefs you cannot fail to be moved this modest but beautiful site. Nearby is the ruin of King Herod’s castle where Salome danced for the head of John the Baptist.

An hour’s drive from the Dead Sea is the town of Madaba, overlooked by Mount Nebo it is home to an exceptional collection of Byzantine mosaics. Head to the town of Kerak for one of the most famous crusader castles in Jordan and was a place of legend in the battles between the crusaders and the Islamic armies of Saladin.
