NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK
Immerse yourself in one of the most ancient forests in Africa and marvel at the nature and birdlife in this botanist’s paradise.
Nyungwe National Park is home to the only forest canopy walkway in East Africa. This means it is possible to experience this magical place with minimal disruption to the flora and fauna of this pre-historic forest.
Experience birds and primates at close quarters as you explore along the walkway. Nyungwe National Park is particularly excellent for birds, being home to over 300 species. The star of the show is the Blue Turaco and visitors can hope to catch a glimpse of its coloured feathers or hear its distinctive call. The primates range from chimpanzees to Mangabeys and Black and White Angolan Colobus Monkeys. For botanists, Nyungwe National Park is paradise and you can’t fail to be amazed as you explore a maze of trees, ferns and wild orchids, emerging from the trees to enjoy spectacular views from the mountain summits or discovering waterfalls and flowing streams.
Visiting Nyungwe National Park feels like a particular privilege as you discover a forest relatively unchanged for thousands of years.
