Las Casitas by Belmond is perfectly situated at the edge of the Colca Canyon. Twenty luxury casitas are spread among the 24-hectare estate which has stunning views of the terraces and ravines for which the canyon is famous.
In keeping with local tradition, natural materials have been used throughout including handcrafted tiles and local timber. This is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area where there are many treks and activities – not to mention magnificent birdwatching. The canyon is renowned for its population of Andean Condor which can frequently be seen riding the thermals early in the morning.
The casitas are very comfortable – each has a private terrace with plunge pool, fireplace, indoor and outdoor shower, and a hot tub on the veranda. There is no shortage of technology either, as each also enjoys Wi-Fi, iPod dock and under floor heating. The main grounds of Las Casitas also offer many amenities for guests including a large swimming pool and adjacent Samay Spa. A variety of treatments are available for guests using locally sourced Incan inspired products, and the whole experience promotes a truly calming atmosphere.
The hotel is also proud of its small farm – vegetables and herbs are grown here and an alpaca herd call it home. The Peruvian inspired cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant uses these organic ingredients to produce delicious, wholesome food.
