A luxurious small hotel, lovingly restored and re-imagined for a new generation of travellers.
The exquisite Casa San Agustin echoes Cartagena’s fresh contemporary style and colourful Caribbean sensibility. Refined yet relaxed, its trio of colonial era white-washed buildings exudes the warmth of a magnificently appointed private residence. From original frescoes in the library to centuries-old wood-beamed ceilings in the guest rooms, Casa San Agustín’s art and architecture evoke the city’s rich history as 17th century Spanish stronghold.
The showpiece of the Casa San Agustin is the Alma Restaurant. A spirited culinary setting where fashionable locals and guests share a passion for inspired coastal Colombian cuisine, Alma is under the direction of Executive Chef Heberto Eljach, who draws on his experiences in Australasia, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia to create menus of striking originality. With all of the ingredients being sourced locally on a daily basis, the flavoursome dishes are an experience guests will not want to miss.
Casa San Agustin boasts beautifully decorated guest rooms and spacious suites showcase an authentic Colombian style while seamlessly incorporating the modern services and amenities that contemporary travellers seek. Influenced by the subtle shades of the nearby Caribbean Sea, the guest rooms and suites feature a blue-hued palette accented by natural fabrics and rich dark woods. Ironwork beds, chandeliers and sconces specially commissioned by local artists share space with vintage pieces, art and artefacts for an overall atmosphere that feels relaxed and residential. Some guest rooms have private plunge pools or Jacuzzis and all feature citrus-scented Ortigia bath amenities, king size bed with the most sumptuous Frette linens, LCD TV, Wi-Fi, AC, ceiling fan and shower.
