CHAN CHICH LODGE

Since the 1980’s Chan Chich Lodge has had a well-respected conservation program in place and is now regarded as one of the premium wildlife watching options in Central America.

If you are seeking an authentic yet extremely comfortable stay, this lodge will not disappoint. Primarily a retreat for those interested in nature, it also provides a sublime place to relax. The surrounding 30,000 acres of wilderness (which are in turn encircled by half a million acres of conservational lands) belonging to the lodge are home to an abundance of wildlife, over 370 species of bird and the elusive jaguar included.

Within this huge expanse of land, Chan Chich Lodge has its very own farm which produces coffee, cattle and different fruits and vegetables. Farm to fork, organic and local people are all important to the lodge. The resulting local and international dishes are served at the restaurant for guests to enjoy.

In order to make the most of this fantastic environment, the lodge has a long list of activities available both on and off site. These include horse riding, kayaking, hiking, night safari’s by vehicle, Mayan ruin tours and caving. Birding is of strong focus, and therefore there are many walks and tours which focus on spotting the favoured species.

Thatched, cabin style accommodation will make guests feel truly enveloped in nature. Despite their rugged appearance externally, inside they are extremely well equipped and include facilities such as bathrobes, ceiling fans, coffee maker, mini bar, organic toiletries and turn down service.
