Patagonia Camp is a luxury property which provides unique accommodation overlooking Torres del Paine National Park.
It may not be a hotel in the traditional sense, but it is the first luxury camp in South America and therefore provides an unrivalled glamping experience.
NAME: Patagonia Camp
LOCATION: On the outskirts of Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile, a region widely known as Patagonia.
NO. OF ROOMS: The property has 20 completely independent and extremely cosy yurts which offer private bathrooms, terraces with spectacular views, heating and locally crafted textiles and furniture.
FOOD & DRINK: With a restaurant, bar and grill on site, guests can enjoy fresh local cuisine such as king crab, lamb and salmon served with wine from the award-winning organic Matetic Vineyards.
OUTSTANDING FEATURE: The fact that it is the first luxury camp in South America is pretty outstanding, but the views and sheer remoteness of the property are a major highlight for guests seeking escapism.
BEST FOR: Experiencing the wilderness of Patagonia in style.
MUST DO ACTIVITY: The beautiful hikes nearby, particularly sections of the W-Trek, are unmissable. For those feeling more adventurous there is a once-in-a-lifetime excursion to kayak among the icebergs on a lake within the National Park.
ECO CREDENTIALS: Patagonia camp strives to keep its impact on the surrounding area as low as possible. The whole complex has been built using natural materials and with low voltage electrical systems. Guests are encouraged to use the water bottles which are provided, and all waste water is processed through a complex water treatment plant installed at the property, meaning the water can be put back into the lake with no harm to the environment. Lastly, there is a worm composting system where waste food is turned compost which in turn is used on the organic garden.
